Dhilan’s ability to seamlessly fulfil both baritone and tenor solo roles is testament to his incredible versatility as a singer and we are delighted to have him on board for this concert on Saturday 9th December (4.30pm).

Born in Sri Lanka, Dhilan won a scholarship at the age of 19 and trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (London) for six years with Rudolf Piernay, graduating with a BMus (Hons) degree and a MMus degree with Distinction. Whilst at the GSMD he worked with Thomas Allen, Sarah Walker, Roger Vignoles, Eugene Asti, Hans-Peter Blochwitz and Rosalind Plowright.

His various awards include the GSMD Wyburd Trust Award for Lieder, All Saint Fulham Choral Scholarship, Finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Young Singers’ Bursary Award and Croydon Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, and the Jellinek

Award from the Guildford Symphony Orchestra. He is also an Associate of the Trinity College of Music in piano, violin and voice. Dhilan specialises in the high baritone repertoire and has performed on the concert stage in song recitals and as soloist in several major oratorio works in Europe, Canada, India and Sri Lanka with a repertoire ranging from Bach to Barber. His operatic work includes Le nozze di Figaro for Guildhall School Opera, Masetto (Don Giovanni) and Onegin (Eugene Onegin) for Hampstead Garden Opera and several programmes of Opera Galas, including a tour of India with his current teacher soprano Patricia Rozario OBE.

Before moving to Norwich, Dhilan was Director of Music at the Parish of St Matthew Croydon (London), and has been a Bass Lay Clerk at Norwich Cathedral since September 2011. With the Norwich Cathedral choir he has toured Europe, broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and recorded CDs titled ‘Sunday at Norwich Cathedral’, ‘Christmas at Norwich’, ‘Music of Light’ and a CD of choral works by Britten, featuring as soloist in all of them. Apart from his singing duties at the cathedral, Dhilan is a busy freelance baritone soloist and works for the Norwich Cathedral finance department.
