Open Rehearsal and next Season’s Concerts

Press release date: 31 August, 2012

OPEN REHEARSAL: Hunts Phil choir will be holding an open rehearsal on Tuesday 25th September at the New Hall, Godmanchester Primary School from 7.45 – 9.45pm. If you enjoy singing and would like to try out the experience of being part of a big choir this would be an excellent opportunity for you to come along and meet us. We are always very pleased to welcome prospective new members, and during refreshments at the interval you will be able to find out more about us by chatting to some of our regular members and to our conductor, Adrian Brown. We offer free membership to all full time students, and concessions for older members.

Looking ahead, we have an exciting season planned for both choir and orchestra. Our first concert, on Saturday 10th November, is a celebration of English music. Parry’s rousing ‘Coronation’ anthem, I was Glad, is followed by Frederick Delius’ choral masterpiece, Sea Drift and Vaughan Williams’ Fifth Symphony. Two family concerts follow on Saturday 15th December, both featuring perhaps the most famous musical story of all – Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, as well as other seasonal music. Further concerts in 2013 include Tippett’s very moving oratorio, A Child of Our Time and Elgar’s lovely Cello Concerto.

FURTHER INFORMATION: As well as vacancies for choir members there are also occasionally places available in the orchestra, especially for upper strings. You can find out more about us and also download our 2012-2013 Brochure by visiting www.huntsphil.org.uk
